Experimenting with expanding foam helped to develop the proposal of an ‘ever expanding’ attic. The foam is usually used for thermal insulation during construction but because of its ability to expand in size, it gives an opportunity to put the ideas behind Fat House (2003, Erwin Wurm). It grew and spread all over the models, epitomizing this project’s ideas- how over commercialization can take our homes. Yes, Nehla is challenging the status quo but at the same time she falls into that trap when her attic is completely filled up by all the items she collects. Consumerism is a cycle but it has to be controlled.
